Corrections and removal requests
This site reproduces public NPPES fields without editing them. There are two different kinds of correction: fixing the official record, which only CMS can do, and changing how this site presents it, which we can do.
1. Correcting the official NPPES record
If a name, address, telephone number, taxonomy code, or status is wrong in NPPES, the provider (or an authorized official for an organization) must update the record with CMS through the NPPES provider portal. Providers are required to report changes to CMS within 30 days. Updated data appears in the next CMS public file and on this site only after that file is processed.
2. Reporting a presentation error on this site
If a page shows something that differs from the NPPES file of the same date, or renders a field incorrectly, email contact@npireference.com with the page address and the NPI. We compare the page with the source file and correct rendering errors in the next build.
3. Requesting suppression of contact details
Individual providers who do not want their practice street address or practice telephone number shown on this site may request suppression by emailing contact@npireference.com from an address that lets us confirm the request relates to the NPI in question. Include the NPI and state which fields to withhold. Suppression applies to this website only; it does not change the official NPPES record or other directories. We may also remove a profile page entirely on request.
What to expect
- We acknowledge requests by email and aim to respond within ten business days.
- Rendering fixes and suppressions take effect when the site is next rebuilt and deployed; the reply will say when that is expected.
- We do not ask for, and you should not send, patient information, clinical details, government identification numbers, or login credentials.
- Requests are kept only as long as needed to act on them and to keep suppressions in place across future builds.
